Trees For Life
Through the Winfield Park District's "Trees-For-Life" program individuals and groups are welcomed to donate a tree to any of the beautiful parks in the Winfield Park District. This gift can be in the name of someone special or to commemorate a special lifetime occasion.

Celebrate the major milestones in your life in a positive, lifelone way. The gift of a tree to the Winfield Park District will last a life time. Births, anniversaries, weddings, memorials, retirements, and graduations are just a few of the many occasions you may choose to recognize through the "Trees-For-Life" program.

Trees are planted in the Spring and Fall seasons. Arrangements must be made 30 days in advance of April and October plantings. Donors have the option of selecting the park in which the tree will be planted. Winfield Park District staff, with the assistance of the Winfield Area Gardeners club, will locate the best place to plant your tree within the park. Donors will receive a certificate idntifying the species, its location, the date of the planting and the name of the person or event for which your commemorating.

Trees-For-Life cost $200 and may be selected from a variety of trees. The Park District will take responsibility for acquiring, planting, pruning, fertilizing, and watering the trees. Donors may hold a ceremony or dedication at the time of planting or shortly thereafter. For more information, call Mark Pawlowski at (630) 653-3811 or email markatthepark@ameritech.net.

Winfield Junior Woman's Club
Helping Hand Block Parent Program
Does your child know where to get help when away from home? The Helping Hand Block Parent Program assists children by identifying "safe" houses in Winfield. "Safe" houses display a bright orange hand in their window. If you are interested in participating in the program or would like additional information, contact Winfield Junior Women's Club, P.O. Box 135, Winfield, IL 60190.

Canoe Launch at Lions Park
The park site at Beecher Avenue across from the Windfield Central School was recently renamed Lions Park. The change in the name is in recognition of the past, present, and future contributions that have been made to the Winfield community by the Winfield Lions Club. The park is located on the banks of the West Branch of the DuPage River. A Canoe Launch is located at the northwest corner of the park. The launch is the perfect starting point for a one-and-a-half hour trip down Canoe Launch. Parking is available at both locations. For questions or additional information, contact Mark Pawlowski at 653-3811 ext. 112.  TOP

General Policies
  1. It is the responsibility of a program participant or one's parent/guardian to notify the park district of any physical limitations that may limit or impair one's activity in any program for which one is registered. In the event of a serious accident or illness of a participant, it is our policy to contact the Village of Winfield Fire Department to perform emergency first aid and transport the victim to the hospital. A person desiring a different procedure must specify so, in writing, at the time of registration.
  2. For classes that involve degrees of ability, the instructor reserves the right to place students in the class best suited to their abilities.
  3. WE LOVE PARENTS, BUT with your child's best interest in mind, we ask that parents do not remain in class or bring other children into class, as they may interrupt participant's attention and inhibit the establishment of peer relations. Thank you for your cooperation.
  4. WAIVERS must be signed for all programs in this brochure. No one will be allowed to participate in a program without a signed waiver accompanying a registration form.
  5. NON-RESIDENT POLICY
Winfield Park District residents, through taxes, make a financial contribution to the operations of the park district whether they use our services or not. Non-Resident fees are charged so that non-residents contribute to the overall financing of the park district on an equitable basis. Non- resident fees are indicated next to resident fees under each program description.
  6. PROOF OF AGE
Parents of first time participants must bring a copy of a birth certificate when registering a child age 5 years or younger for any program. Children must be the appropriate age by the first day of the program.
  7. Park district employees are not responsible for and will not toilet train or diaper children.
  8. All participants permit the taking of photos and videotapes of themselves and their children during Park District activities for publication and use as the Park District deems necessary.
  9. The "paid wait list" helps you in several ways. Those on the paid wait list have first priority when space is created due to someone cancelling, or when a class enrollment has been increased.  TOP

Refund Policy
Satisfaction Guaranteed
The Winfield Park District is so confident that you will enjoy our programs, we guarantee it. If, after attending one of our classes or programs, you are not completely satisfied, inform us so that we can correct the situation and arrange for you to:
  1. Continue in the class.
  2. Repeat the class at no charge.
  3. Receive a full refund.  TOP

This policy does not include trips or special events due to the contractual agreements with agents that often prohibit the Park District from receiving a refund.

  1. There will be a refund processing charge of $1 to $3 for all classes. Programs priced $0-$10 will be charged $1, $11-$30 will be charged $2, and $31 and above will be charged $3. Refunds for trips will be given only if a replacement person is found.
  2. The Park District reserves the right to cancel, postpone, combine classes or change instructors. Programs not meeting minimum registration will be cancelled and refunds will be issued. All participants in cancelled programs will be notified by staff and will receive a full refund.
  3. No refunds will be issued after the second meeting of any program.  TOP
