| About W.D.S.R.A. |
The Western DuPage Special Recreation Association is a cooperative extension
of the Winfield Park District, as well as eight other area park districts. We offer more than 1,000 programs, trips and special
events to more than 8,000 individuals with special needs each year. Programs range from drama to dance and include a variety of
Special Olympics sports and adapted sports as well as programs for individuals with physical challenges. In addition to our own
programs, we also offer support to anyone with special needs enrolled in a Winfield Park District program. Over the years, many
Winfield residents have volunteered or worked part-time with WDSRA. If you would like to share you time and enthusiasm with us,
please contact Wendy Craven, WDSRA's Manager of Support Services, at (630) 681-0962 or email
wendyc@wdsra.com. The WDSRA Foundation is the association's fundraising arm and welcomes donations from
individuals, companies and service clubs. These donations help offset the cost of programs.
Join us for a very special luncheon Sept. 22nd at 11am at the Outback Steakhouse, Bloomingdale. In addition to lunch there will be
guest chefs and special treats! Tickets are $30 per person. Outback Steakhouse is donating the full ticket price to WDSRA. Come
celebrate our 30th anniversary Nov. 5th with a Taste of Western DuPage. Restaurants from all over DuPage will share their fare at
Indian Lakes Resort. Enjoy many local favorites from 5-8pm. Tickets are $30 per person. Everyone is welcome! For more information
on the foundation, please call (630) 681-0962 or visit www.wdsra.com. |

| Inclusion Policy |
| The Winfield Park District and WDSRA believe each
participant should be provided with leisure services to allow for his/her highest level of performance.
Inclusion Services are designed to facilitate and ensure opportunities are available in the least
restrictive environment and to make certain residents are given the opportunity to choose the services they
desire. WDSRA's goal is to provide a continuum of services to build toward an individual's independence in
their local park district and recreation department. WDSRA complements the park district sponsored program
by supplying a variety of services to make the experience successful. WDSRA may provide a support staff for
the entire program or until the participant is comfortable with the activity. Inservices, staff training and
resource networking are also available. If you are interested in participating in a park district program and
would like WDSRA's assistance, please contact our office in advance of the Winfield Park District's registration
deadline. There is no additional charge for WDSRA's support. |

| ADA Update |
| The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) took effect in
January 1990 and the Winfield Park District will comply with the legislation's purpose which prohibits
discrimination on the basis of disability. The Winfield Park District will make reasonable accomodations
in recreation programs to enable participation by an individual with a disability who meets essential
eligibility requirements for that leisure program and facilities. The ADA requires that recreation programs
offered by the Winfield Park District be available in the most integrated setting appropriate for
each individual. If you have questions about the Winfield's commitment regarding the ADA policy or you believe
you have been unfairly discriminated against by the park district, please call the park district at (630) 653-3811. |
